On July 26th, 1953 a group of Cuban revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro attacked the Moncada Army Barracks. Although this attack was defeated militarily, taking the lives of dozens of rebel fighters and imprisoning many others, including Fidel Castro, it is seen as the beginning of the Cuban revolution. It is the July 26th Movement, named after this initial defeat, that led the Cuban revolution to victory under the leadership of Fidel Castro, Che Guevara and their compatriots. 

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the attack on the Moncada Army Barracks and the beginning of the Cuban Revolution. Please join with us to commemorate this important occasion and the gains made by the Cuban Revolution with a program of dynamic speakers, poets and film and muscians.

Aunque este asalto fue una derrota militar, que costó la vida a docenas de luchadores y el encarcelamiento de muchos otros, incluyendo a Fidel Castro, se ve como el comienzo de la Revolución Cubana. Es el Movimiento 26 de Julio (M-26-7), que lleva el nombre de esta derrota inicial, lo que llevó a la victoria a la Revolución Cubana bajo el liderazgo de Fidel Castro, Che Guevara y sus compatriotas.
