MERLI VANEGAS – Venezuelan Consul General in Vancouver Merli Vanegas
is a Bolivarian and socialist lawyer. She initially worked for the
Bolivarian Government in the National Assembly, and has served as a
Legal Advisor in different governmental institutions. She then joined
the Foreign Ministry, where she began as Government Representative to
the International Labour Organization. Before coming to Vancouver she
was a diplomat in the Embassy of Venezuela in Libya.

On January 10th, hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets
throughout Venezuela to show their support for legally elected
President Hugo Chavez as well as for the Bolivarian Revolution.
Between January 22nd and January 31st, people around the world will do
the same and organize diverse events as part of an International Week
of Action in Solidarity with Venezuela.

After another decisive win by Hugo Chavez in the recent Venezuelan
Presidential Elections, the U.S. backed right-wing opposition in
Venezuela is trying to use his health situation to attack the
Bolivarian Revolution and set back the huge gains made by poor and
working people since Chavez was first elected in 1998.

Join Vancouver actions to demonstrate the huge love and solidarity
people around the world have for President Chavez, and also to help
educate people about the realities of the huge gains of the Bolivarian
Revolution in Venezuela!

Vancouver Shouts: We are all Chávez!

Despite the cold and rain, dozens of people from different countries
gathered on Saturday outside of the Vancouver Art Gallery, Canada, to
shout in unison "We are all Chávez!"

The event was part of the International Week of Action in Solidarity
with Venezuela, initiative taking place in the United States, Canada
and Australia. The organizers of the meeting were members of the group
Vancouver Communities in Solidarity with Cuba, VCSC, an organization
that works in that city on the west coast of Canada, near the border
with the United States.

The event featured live music from local rapper Joose Justis, who
encouraged attendees with his songs of peace and with lyrics that call
to social consciousness. The young Canadian Thomas Davies, one of the
organizers, took the microphone stressing the importance of the
Bolivarian Revolution to the world. Among those present, were
Venezuelans living in that city, as well as Canadians and immigrants
from around the world.

es una abogada Bolivariana y socialista. Inicialmente trabajó en la
Asamblea Nacional del Gobierno Bolivariano y ha servido como asesora
legal en diferentes instituciones gubernamentales. Se unió entonces al
Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, donde comenzó como representante
del gobierno ante la Organización Mundial del Trabajo. Antes de venir
a Vancouver, fue diplomática de la embajada venezolana en Libia.

El 10 de enero, cientos de miles de personas tomaron las calles por
todo Venezuela para mostrar su apoyo al presidente electo legalmente,
Hugo Chávez, y a la Revolución Bolivariana. Entre el 22 de enero y el
31 de enero, la gente en todo el mundo hará lo mismo, y organizarán
varios eventos como parte de una Semana Internacional de Acciones en
Solidaridad con Venezuela.

Después de otra victoria decisiva de Hugo Chávez en las recientemente
efectuadas Elecciones Presidenciales de Venezuela, la oposición
derechista venezolana, apoyada por Estados Unidos, trata de usar su
situación de salud para atacar a la Revolución Bolivariana y deshacer
los grandes logros alcanzados por el pueblo pobre y trabajador desde
que Chávez fue electo por vez primera en 1998.

Únanse a las acciones de Vancouver para demostrar el gran amor y
solidaridad que las personas del mundo sienten por el Presidente
Chávez, y también para ayudar a educar a la gente sobre las realidades
de los grandes logros de la Revolución Bolivariana en Venezuela.

Vancouver grita ¡Chávez somos todos!

A pesar del frío y la lluvia, decenas de personas de distintos países
se reunieron este sábado a las afuera de la Galería de Arte de
Vancouver, Canadá, para gritar al unísono “Chávez somos todos”.

La concentración se enmarcó en la Semana Internacional de Acciones en
Apoyo a Venezuela, iniciativa que se desarrolla en Estados Unidos,
Canadá y Australia.

Los organizadores del encuentro fueron los miembros del colectivo
Comunidades de Vancouver en Solidaridad con Cuba, VCSC por sus siglas
en inglés), organización que hace vida en la mencionada ciudad en la
costa oeste de Canadá, muy cerca de la frontera con los Estados
Unidos.

El evento contó con música en vivo del rapero local Joose Justis,
quién animó a los asistentes con sus canciones en pro de la paz y con
letras que llaman a la conciencia social.

El joven canadiense Thomas Davies, uno de los organizadores, al tomar
el micrófono resaltó la importancia de la Revolución Bolivariana para
la izquierda mundial.

Entre los presentes se contó con venezolanos y venezolanas que
residen en esa ciudad, así como canadienses e inmigrantes de varias
partes del mundo.
