Over the last three months, large and energetic rallies of Indigenous nations and their allies have taken 
place in every corner of Canada. This new rise of protests comes after 
generations of the denial of human rights and self-determination for 
Indigenous nations at the hands of the government of Canada. This time 
the last straw was the government’s omnibus Bill C-45 which was passed 
in late 2012. This bill makes broad changes to laws, acts and sweeping 
changes to the Indian Act. In fact this piece of legislation 
fundamentally cuts away the rights of Indigenous Nations in Canada.

Join MAWO to discuss the government of Canada’s war at home against 
Indigenous nations and war abroad against oppressed nations. The current
 rise of resistance and protests by Indigenous Nations in Canada 
emphasizes the role and tasks of antiwar activists and peace loving 
people in supporting the Indigenous struggle for human rights and 
self-determination.
