Two
 and a half years ago, the great mass movement of the Tunisian people 
forced the overthrow of US backed dictator Ben Ali. While the mass 
demonstrations in the form of marches, rallies and strikes have 
continued, in recent months these have reached a new stage of struggle 
which is rich in demands and solid in determination for change. The 
people of Tunisia are protesting in huge numbers to demand the 
resignation of the current corrupt government that has continued the 
suppression of it’s people and continued to uphold the interests of US 
imperialism, without the former dictator Ben Ali. The recent 
assassinations of two very important opposition leaders in Tunisia in 
the last six months have not discouraged protests, in fact this has 
prompted larger and more defiant mass demonstrations, including hundreds
 of thousands of women who recently held a women’s rally in defense of 
women’s rights. 

In Vancouver we have the opportunity to hear 
first hand from two women organizers who are on the ground in Tunisia, 
participating in the protests.
