*** Day 1 of the 8th Annual Hip Hop 4 Peace
Festival ~ A great success! ***
The first day of the Vancouver’s Hip Hop 4 Peace Festival
came to a close with energetic dancing, peace signs in the air and exclamations
of “Hip Hop for Peace!” No one wanted the show to end when artists joined on
stage for a final freestyle, uniting diverse talents, styles, and languages.
Throughout the eight-hour all-day show in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery,
over 2500 people came out to hear dozens of talented artists, both local and
international, bringing the message of peace. Excitement filled the air when
Cuban Hip Hop pioneers OBSESIÓN took the stage, drawing in the crowd with their
rhythms and rhymes reflecting peace, social justice and the fight for a better world.
The impressive B-Boy and B-Girl battle that prompted a
tight crowd around the dance floor was a taste of what is to come in Day 2 of
the festival. On Sunday, participants will have the chance to learn
breakdancing from the pros as part of the “School of Hip Hop”. Make sure you
join in for a day full of dynamic workshops to discuss the theme of “Peace! An
Element of Hip Hop” and get ready to learn how to MC and breakdance!

Hip Hop is picking up the mic and taking it's place in the struggle for a
better world!

In our world today, war and occupation has brought devastation and death to

Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and most recently Libya, and now imperialist

forces are focusing their war drive on the next targets of military
intervention.

Syria is on a path of destruction with a civil war imposed by the U.S. Obama

regime and their imperialist allies against the Syrian people. Iran is facing
increasing

sanctions, covert intervention, sabotage and daily threats of military
intervention.



Every day we are subjected to a massive mainstream media deception campaign

against these two countries. In the struggle for an end to this brutal war
drive, a

global language of resistance is breaking out of war zones and ghettos, refugee

camps and reservations. Hip Hop is raising a voice for peace world wide and
here in

Vancouver with PEACE! An Element of Hip Hop.



On September 15th and 16th, the 8th Annual Vancouver International Hip Hop 4

Peace Festival returns to showcase an alliance of local and international MC’s,

Breakers, DJ’s, Graffiti Writers and Peace Activists! This year’s festival will
once

again bring the Cuban Revolutionary flavour to Vancouver with OBSESIÓN direct

from Cuba – Pioneers of Cuban Hip Hop.



On Saturday, Hip Hop 4 Peace will be out in the sun for an all-day outdoor show

with body rocking beats and lyrics that inspire the mind. Sunday will be a day

of workshops where participants can try out the fine arts of breakdancing and

MC'ing, as well as take part in a discussion with artists and activists on the

importance of Hip Hop and it’s role in the struggle for peace and humanity.



Over the last near decade, the festival has evolved into one of the most
significant

events of its kind. A unique facet of the festival is that it is absolutely
built, organized,

sponsored and supported by communities of youth, families, and working people

from across the world. The festival continues to be committed to being as
accessible,

diverse, creative and idealistic as the human imagination can construct!

El Hip Hop toma el micrófono y toma su lugar en la lucha por un mundo mejor! En

nuestro mundo de hoy, la ocupación y la Guerra han provocado muerte y

devastación en Afganistán, Irak, Palestina y recientemente en Libia, y ahora

las fuerzas imperialistas concentran su campaña de guerra en los próximos

blancos de ocupación militar. Siria va por el camino de la destrucción con una

Guerra civil impuesta por el régimen estadounidense de Obama y sus aliados en

contra del pueblo sirio. Irán enfrenta sanciones que van cada vez en aumento,

intervención encubierta, sabotaje y amenazas diarias de intervención militar.

Cada día estamos sujetos a una campaña mediática masiva de engaño en contra de

estos dos países. En la lucha por darle fin a esta brutal campaña de Guerra, un

idioma mundial de resistencia se abre paso desde las regiones en guerra y los

guetos, campos para refugiados y reservaciones. El Hip Hop alza una voz por la

paz mundial y aquí en Vancouver con PAZ! Un elemento del Hip Hop.



Los días 15 y 16 de septiembre, el 8vo Festival Internacional de Vancouver el
Hip Hop

por la Paz regresa para ofrecer esta muestra de una alianza de breakdancers,
DJ’s, MC’s,



artistas de grafiti y activistas por la paz, locales e internacionales! El
festival de este

año traerá una vez más el sabor revolucionario Cubano a Vancouver con OBSESIÓN

directamente desde Cuba – Pioneros del Hip Hop Cubano.



El sábado, el Hip Hop por la Paz estará fuera al sol por un día entero de

espectáculo en exteriores con ritmos que estremecerán su cuerpo y letras que

inspirarán su mente. El domingo será un día de talleres en el que los

participantes podrán disfrutar de las bellas artes del breakdancing y de la

composición y el rap de rimas, y también podrán participar en debates con

artistas y activistas sobre la importancia del Hip Hop y su papel en la lucha

por la paz y la humanidad.



Durante la última década, el festival ha evolucionado hacia uno de los eventos
más

significativo de su tipo. Una faceta única del festival es que es completamente

construido, organizado, patrocinado y apoyado por comunidades de jóvenes,

familias y personas trabajadoras del mundo entero. El festival continua su

compromiso de ser tan accesible, diverso, creativo e idealista como la

imaginación humana puede concebir!
