DR. ALEIDA GUEVARA  * Havana, Cuba
Cuban revolutionary leader, a pediatrician,
prominent author of the book, “Chavez, Venezuela and the New Latin America” and
daughter of the legendary Ernesto Che Guevara.

ALBERTO PRIETO * Havana, Cuba
Coordinator for North and Central America
for the Central Committee of Communist Party of Cuba. Alberto was previously
the first secretary of the Cuban Interests Section in Washington DC. 

JAVIER DOMOKOS * Toronto, Canada
The Cuban Consul General in Toronto,
Canada. Javier graduated from the Havana's “Instituto Superior de Relaciones
Internacionales” (ISRI) in 1992. Since 1992, Javier has been posted in several
diplomatic missions around the world including Turkey, Zimbabwe and Kenya,
during this time he has also worked for Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

ANTONIO GUERRERO CABRERA * Havana, Cuba
Member of the Union of Young Communists of
Cuba (UJC) since 2001. Tony is the son of Antonio Guerrero, one of the Cuban 5
political prisoners held in U.S. jails. Tony graduated as an Engineer of
Informatics Sciences in 2009. Tony participated in the Cuban delegations to the
World Festival of Youth in 2005 in Venezuela and 2010 in South Africa. 

MANUEL YEPE  *  Havana, Cuba
Journalist and professor at the Superior
Institute of International Relations of Havana. Manuel was a leader of the
underground July 26 Movement in Matanzas leading up to the triumph of the Cuban
revolution in 1959, and worked directly with Ernesto Che Guevara.

MAVIS DORA ALVAREZ * Havana, Cuba
An agricultural engineer and educator who
consults with Cuban family farming and cooperatives. For forty years Mavis has
been member of the national leadership of the National Association of Small
Farmers. She hold a bachelors degree in agricultural engineering and a masters
degree in gender studies. 

MERLI VANEGAS * Vancouver, Canada
The Venezuelan Consul General in
Vancouver,BC. Merli was previously a diplomat on behalf of Venezuela in Libya. 

WENDY HOLM  *  Vancouver, BC, Canada
Professor of UBC’s International Field
Studies in Sustainable Agriculture (Cuba), economist, author and award winning
journalist and sustainability expert. Wendy is also the organizer of the
Canada-Cuba Farmer to Farmer Project.

TIM LOUIS * Vancouver, BC, Canada
Lawyer, former Vancouver City Counsellor
and long-time supporter and activist of social justice causes, including the
freedom of the Cuban 5 political prisoners held in U.S. jails.

KELLY WHITE * Vancouver, BC, Canada,
Coast Salish Elder & Indigenous media
activist.

ALI YEREVANI  *  Vancouver, BC, Canada
Political editor of the Fire This Time
Newspaper, political editor of the Battle of Ideas Press, and participant in
the 1979 Iranian revolution

GUEVARA CONFERENCE <<

Since the triumph of Cuba’s 1959 revolution
to today, the vision and
political ideas that shape the Cuban revolution remain a source of inspiration,
discussion and debate around the world. Through the ideas of Fidel, Che, the
Cuban socialist project, and the dynamics of the mass revolutionary movement,
Cuba has become a country renowned for its achievements in health, education,
culture, science and many other aspects of social and human progress. The Cuban
socialist project and the Cuban revolutionary leadership, despite 50 years of
an inhuman and criminal blockade by consecutive US administrations, have never
wavered to imperialist pressure. The annual International Che Guevara
Conference is an opportunity to discuss and debate the ideas of the Cuban
revolution, its dynamism and how it has impacted Latin America and the world.
This year's conference we will discuss the important decisions and planning by
the Cuban government  in 2010/2011 for the transformation of Cuba's
economic model as well as the different aspects of these changes and their
impact on different sectors of Cuban society.

Líder revolucionaria cubana, pediatra, prominente escritora, autora del libro
"Chávez, Venezuela y la nueva América Latina", e hija del legendario
Ernesto 'Che' Guevara.

ALBERTO PRIETO * Habana, Cuba
Coordinador del Comité Central del Partido
Comunista de Cuba para Norte y Centroamérica. Alberto fue anteriormente el
primer secretario de la Sección de Intereses Cubanos en Washington DC. 

JAVIER DOMOKOS * Toronto, Canada
Cónsul General de Cuba en Toronto, ON
Canadá. Javier se graduó del Instituto Superior de Relaciones Internacionales
(ISRI) de la Habana en 1992. Desde entonces ha cumplido labores en distintas
misiones diplomáticas alrededor del mundo, entre las que destacan las de
Turquía, Zimbabwe y Kenia. 

ANTONIO GUERRERO CABRERA * Habana, Cuba
Miembro de la Unión de Jóvenes Comunistas
de Cuba desde 2001. Tony es el hijo de Antonio Guerrero, uno de los 5 héroes
cubanos presos ilegalmente en los Estados Unidos. Tony se graduó de Ingeniero
en Ciencias Informáticas en 2009. Participó en las delegaciones cubanas al
Festival Mundial de la Juventud en 2005 en Venezuela y 2010 en Suráfrica.

MANUEL YEPE  *  Habana, Cuba
Periodista y professor en el Instituto
Superior de Relaciones Internacionales de la Habana. Fue miembro del movimiento
clandestino 26 de Julio en Matanzas que llevó al triunfo de la Revolución
Cubana en 1959 y trabajó directamente con Ernesto Che Guevara.

MAVIS DORA ALVAREZ * Habana, Cuba
Ingeniera en agricultura, educadora, quien
asesora a cooperativas y granjas familiares en Cuba. Durante 40 años ha sido
líder de la Asociación Nacional de Pequeños Granjeros. También cuenta con una
Maestría en Estudios de Género.

MERLI VANEGAS * Vancouver, Canadá
Cónsul General de la República Bolivariana
de Venezuela en Vancouver, BC. Formó parte de la misión diplomática de
Venezuela en Libia durante la invasion de la OTAN al país.

WENDY HOLM  *  Vancouver, BC, Canadá
Profesora de la UBC en el campo de Estudios
Internacionales en Agricultura Sustentable (Cuba), economista, autora y
periodista ganadora de premios. También es organizadora del proyecto Granjero a
Granjero Canadá-Cuba.

Abogado, ex Consejal de la ciudad de
Vancouver y activista de las causas de justicia social como la libertad de los
5 héroes cubanos presos injustamente en los Estados Unidos.

Desde el triunfo de la Revolución Cubana en
1959 hasta nuestros días la vision y las ideas políticas que formaron esa
revolución han sido y siguen siendo fuente de inspiración, discusión y debate
alrededor del mundo. A través de las ideas de Fidel, del Ché, el proyecto
socialista de Cuba y la dinámica del movimiento revolucionario de masas, Cuba
se ha convertido en un país renovado por sus logros en materia de salud,
educación, cultura, ciencia, y muchos otros aspectos del progreso humano y
social. El proyecto socialista de Cuba y el liderazgo revolucionario cubano, a
pesar de 50 años de un inhumano y criminal bloqueo por parte de continuos
gobiernos de los Estado Unidos, nunca han cedido ante la presión imperialista.
La Conferencia Anual Internacional Ché Guevara es una oporunidad para discutir
y debatir las ideas de la Revolución Cubana, su dinámica y cómo ha impactado a
Latinoamérica y el mundo. En la conferencia de este año discutiremos las
importantes decisiones y la planificación hecha por el gobierno cubano durante
2010 y 2011 para la transformación del modelo económico de Cuba, así como los
diferentes aspectos de estos cambios y su impacto en distintos sectores de a
sociedad cubana.
