“Assad must transfer power
and depart Syria,” said the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a press
conference on June 7th. The question is could the many public statements like
this by US government officials, along with imposing heavy sanctions against
Syria and helping covert and direct military operations, explain the looming
civil war in Syria? Why are the US and other imperialist powers planning to
oust the government of Syria? 




 




Iran is also a target of
imperialist forces. On July 1st the European Union sanctions are set to begin,
aimed at crippling Iran’s economy, in addition to other criminal sanctions
already imposed on Iran since 2006. Threats and military actions against Iran
beyond sanctions are also increasing. Why are the US and Israel targeting and 




assassinating Iranian
scientists, or attacking Iranian scientific and research centers with computer
viruses?




 




>From June 23rd to July 1st,
coordinated actions against increasing attacks on both Iran and Syria have been
called by the United National Antiwar Coalition (UNAC) in the US. This forum is
included as part of this international effort against war and occupation. Join
us to discuss what imperialists are planning for Syria and Iran, and what
peace-loving people and antiwar activists should do together in order to stop
this military adventurism and madness that started from October 2001 with
military occupation of Afghanistan.
