Multimedia, speakers and discussion

Since January 2011, inspired by the uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt, Yemen has been immersed in a struggle for democracy and independence. Mass protests, even when met with repression and deadly security force crackdowns, are continuing and growing.

The people of Yemen are also under attack by a covert drone war carried out by the CIA, with the cooperation of the Yemeni government. With the excuse of “counter-terrorism” these drone attacks are responsible for the deaths of between 531 to 779 innocent Yemeni people.

Join MAWO to discuss:
~ What are the demands of Yemen’s mass movement?
~ Why is Syria receiving constant mainstream media attention, while Yemen is barely covered in the mainstream media at all?
~ Why is the US using drones in Yemen?
~ What role does the antiwar movement have in the Yemeni struggle?

Speaker:
>> Nita Palmer ~ Author of the book “War and Occupation in Afghanistan: Which Way Forward” published by Battle of Ideas Press, as well as an editorial board member of the Fire This Time Newspaper.
