1. RENÉ GONZÁLEZ ARRIVES IN THE HOMELAND

At noon today (Friday March 30th), René González, one of the Cuban
Five imprisoned in the United States for more than 13 years, arrived
in Havana, according to Cuban National Television newscast.
On March 19, Judge Joan Lenard of the Court for the Southern District
of Florida, who has been in charge of the case of Cuban 5, unjustly
imprisoned in the United States since the beginning of the process,
approved the motion submitted by the lawyer of René González, who
requested that he be allowed to travel to Cuba for two weeks to see
his seriously ill brother Roberto González.

2. “5 DAYS FOR THE CUBAN 5” IN WASHINGTON DC

From April 17-21, 2012, supporters of the 5 Cuban Heroes from around
the world will gather in Washington DC for the “5 Days for the 5”
campaign to demand their immediate release from U.S. prisons.
Participants will take part in cultural events, hear from keynote
speakers and protest in front of the White House.
The events are organized by the International Committee to Free the
Cuban 5 and endorsed by the Free the Cuban 5 Committee-Vancouver which
is sending a delegation to Washington to participate.

WHO ARE THE 5 CUBAN HEROES?

Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González
and René González, also known as the Cuban 5, are currently serving
outrageously long sentences including even a double-life sentence plus
fifteen years. They were wrongly accused and convicted in a U.S.
Federal Court of “conspiracy to commit espionage” and other fabricated
charges. The 5 were actually unarmed men involved in monitoring
Miami-based terrorist organizations, which since 1959 have been
responsible for the deaths of over 3,400 people in Cuba, including one
resident of Canada, Fabio di Celmo, in 1997. Through their important
work, these 5 men were able to prevent further deaths in Cuba.

1. LLEGÓ RENÉ A LA PATRIA
Minutos después del mediodía de este viernes, arribó a la Patria, en
visita privada y familiar, el Héroe de la República de Cuba, René
González Sehwerert, uno de los Cinco luchadores antiterroristas
cubanos condenados injustamente a cumplir largas sanciones de
privación de libertad en cárceles norteamericanas.
Como es conocido, después de haber sufrido 13 años de injusta prisión,
René se encuentra bajo un régimen de libertad supervisada, por otros
tres años, durante los cuales deberá permanecer en los Estados Unidos,
lo cual constituye una sanción adicional.

2. 5 DIAS POR LOS 5 CUBANOS EN WASHINGTON D.C.
Desde el 17 hasta el 21 de abril de 2012, los partidarios de los 5
Héroes cubanos de todo el mundo se reunirán en Washington DC para los
"5 días para los 5 Cubanos" campaña para exigir su inmediata
liberación de las cárceles de Estados Unidos. Los participantes
tomarán parte en actividades culturales, escucharan a los oradores
principales y protestaran frente a la Casa Blanca.

Estos eventos son organizados por el Comité Internacional por la
Libertad de los 5 Cubanos y apoyado por el Comité por la Libertad de
los 5 Cubanos  de Vancouver, que está enviando una delegación a
Washington para participar.

QUIENES SON LOS 5 CUBANOS?

Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González
and René González son tambien conocidos como los 5 cubanos y estan
actualmente cumpliento injustamente largas sentencias incluyendo uno
sentencia doble de vida mas quince años. Ellos fueron acusados y
sentenciados por la Corte Federal de los Estados Unidos por “cometen
espionaje” y tambien por otros falsos cargos. Los 5 estaban desarmados
y estaban monitoreando organizaciones terroristas en Miami las cuales,
desde 1950, han sido responsables por las muertes a más de 3,400
personas en Cuba. Otra las victimas fue el Canadiense Fabio di Celmo
en 1997. Gracias a su heroico trabajo estos 5 hombres previnieron
futura muertes en Cuba.
