========================
In the last two months the world has
been watching as mass movements have spread across the Middle East
and North Africa, so far ousting two US backed dictators in Tunisia
and Egypt, and shaking many others. In these powerful historic
events, we have seen millions of people reclaim their rights and
dignity after years of oppression and humiliation under these
regimes, which have served the interests of the US and other
imperialists instead of the interests of their own people.
However the US government is not just
standing back as these mass movements unfold – with the claim of
standing for human rights, the US government is actively positioning
itself for an intervention in the sovereign nation of Libya, a
country that is independent of US control.
As US, UN, European and Canadian
propaganda is in full force to promote an intervention in Libya, this
forum aims to be a thorough analysis and assessment of the forces of
revolution and counter-revolution throughout the Middle East and
North Africa, and especially the critical threat of a foreign
intervention in Libya. MAWO invites peace and social justice loving
people to take part in this important educational forum and
discussion.
