Coalición de Solidaridad por Latinoamerica Unida (SCULA) lleva a cabo un foro solidario hacia la gente de Honduras. La siguente protesta marcara el Segundo anivesario del golpe de estado en Honduras. Esta protesta sera el 28 de Junio en el consulado de EEUU en Vancouver.

El pasado Sabado, Junio 18, varias personas atendieron el foro titulado: “El Segundo Aniversario del Golpe de Estado en Honduras Respaldado por los EEUU, y la Historia del Colonialismo Americano en Latinoamerica,” un evento organizado por la Coalicion de Solidaridad por Latinoamerica Unida (SCULA). El bien atendido foro reafirmo la solidaridad de la gente en Vancouver hacia aquellos en Honduras que siguen luchando por su dignidad y determinacion.

El foro fue encabezado por Carmen Daly, activista Hondurena y miembro de de el comité de coordinacion de SCULA. Ella explico los acontecimientos que ocurrieron el 28 de Junio del 2009. Ese dia el Presidente democraticamente electo Manuel Zelaya fue forzosamente destituido de su cargo y expulsado del pais. Carmen tambien mostro una serie de documentales en los que se detalla la larga historia de la inverversion estadounidese asi como de las que agresiones que han cometido en Latino America.

El foro tambien ofrecio un enlazamiento especial con el Dr Luther Catillo, doctor Hondureno y ex sub-ministro de cooperacion con ALBA (Alianza Bolivariana para los Pueblos de Nuestra América) encabezado por el presidente Manuel Zelaya. Actualmente, el Dr Luther Castillo es el director the el Hospital para la gente the Garifuna en Honduras. El Dr enfatizo que ardua lucha en Honduras aun no ha terminado mas ahora que Zelaya pude regresar al pais. Asi mismo el senalo el gran movimiento en el que la gente de Honduras continua luchando encontra de el corrupto y represivo regimen impuerto por EEUU.

El evento concluyó con una presentación de Pedro Villegas, Coordinador de SCULA y activista político que se vio obligado a huir de Chile tras el golpe de Estado respaldado por Estados Unidos en 1973. Pedro comparo los diferentes contextos en Latino America entre los golpes en Honduras y Chile. El enfatizo que la invasion en Honduras demostro el interes de los Estados Unidor para intervenir en los asusntos de America Latina. Sin embargo, el senalo que la coperacion positive entre paises latino Americanos como Cuba, Venezuela y Bolivia son efectivos en la lucha encontra de agresiones estadounidenses. Pedro demostro su admiracion y apoyo para la gente en Honduras que ha estado y esta luchando en contra de la detencion, las torturas y la intimidaciod causada.

SCULA apoya a toda la gente que, a lo largo de Latino America, lucha en contra de dominacion y que lucha por un mundo major, el cual todos sabemos es possible. El siguiente evento es una protesta muy importante y tomara lugar en el consulado de EEUU en Vancouver. Esta protesta demandara:

Reinstituyan al Presidente Zelaya AHORA
Dejen de secuestrar, torturer y matar a la oposicion AHORA
Liberen a todos los prisioneros politicos AHORA
EEUU afuera de Honduras AHORA

La protesta va a incluir los discursos de varias organizaciones que luchan por justicia social en Canada y alrededor del mundo asi como un reporte por parte de el Dr Luther Castillo acerca de los acontecimientos en Honduras.

The Solidarity Coalition for a United Latin-America holds successful forum in solidarity with the people of Honduras; next event is a protest picket on June 28th at the U.S. Consulate in Vancouver marking the 2 year anniversary of the U.S.-backed coup in Honduras.

On Saturday, June 18th a diverse group of people attended the forum, “The 2 Year Anniversary of the U.S.-Backed Coup in Honduras and the History of U.S. Colonialism in Latin-America,” as part of two events organized by the Solidarity Coalition for a United Latin America (SCULA) marking the second anniversary of the U.S.-backed coup in Honduras. The well attended forum reaffirmed people in Vancouver’s solidarity with the people of Honduras who continue to fight for their dignity and self-determination.

The forum was MC’d by Carmen Daly, a Honduran activist and member of the coordinating committee of SCULA. She outlined the history of the June 28th, 2009 coup which forcibly removed democratically elected President Manuel Zelaya from the country, and also introduced a series of documentary film clips which detailed the U.S.’ long history of intervention and aggression against the people of Latin-America.

The forum also received a special live greeting from Dr. Luther Castillo, a Honduran doctor who was vice-Minister of cooperation with ALBA (The Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas) under President Manuel Zelaya. He is also currently the director of the Garifuna Peoples’ Hospital in Honduras. Dr. Castillo, emphasized that the struggle in Honduras is not over now that Zelaya has been able to return to Honduras, and that a broad movement of Hondurans continues to fight against the corrupt and repressive U.S-backed regime of Profirio Lobo.

The event closed with a presentation by Pedro Villegas, SCULA Coordinator and political activist who was forced to flee Chile after the U.S-backed coup there in 1973. Pedro compared the different context in Latin-America between the coups in Honduras and Chile. He emphasized that while the coup in Honduras demonstrated that the U.S. is still interested and able to intervene in Latin-America, overall people are in a better position to fight against their aggression due to the positive cooperation of countries like Cuba, Venezuela, and Bolivia. He saluted the brave people of Honduras who have been fighting against detention, torture, murder, and intimidation to continue to build a movement to reclaim their rights.

SCULA stands with all people across Latin-America fighting against foreign domination and to build the better world we all know is possible! The next event is an important PROTEST PICKET ACTION at the U.S. Consulate in Vancouver demanding:

- “Reinstate President Zelaya NOW!”
- “Stop Kidnapping, Torture and Killing of Opposition NOW!”
- “Free All Political Prisoners NOW!”
- U.S. Out of Honduras NOW!”

The picket will include speakers from a variety of organizations fighting for social justice in Canada and around the world, as well as a live report from Dr. Luther Castillo on events occurring in Honduras marking the anniversary of the coup.
