On February 29, 2004 the US, Canada and France overthrew the democratically elected government of Jean-Bertrand Aristide in Haiti, in a viscous and bloody coup d'etat. Following the coup, a United Nations occupation was imposed on Haiti, which continues today, seven years later. Haiti remains the poorest country in Latin America, and last year's devastating earthquake plunged Haiti into an even deeper economic, political and social crisis.

>> Why was Haiti already the poorest country in Latin America before last year's devastating earthquake?
>> Why did the US, Canada and France carry out a coup d'etat against the democratically elected government of Haiti in 2004?
>> Why are there 12 000 UN military soldiers and police in Haiti?
>> What is the interest of US, Canada and France in Haiti?
>> How should the antiwar movement respond to the ongoing occupation of Haiti?

Screening 45 minutes of documentary and news clips including the Haiti section from the MAWO DVD "Canada: Imperialist at Home, Imperialist Abroad"
