Across North Africa and the Middle East 100 000s of people are fighting and protesting for democracy, freedom and human rights. After 1000s of people peacefully demonstrated in Bahrain, the tyrannical Bahraini Monarch massacred its own people on February 16 killing at least 6 peaceful protesters by using special security forces and police. While in Egypt protesters continue to be targeted, beaten up and arrested by the military-led government since ex-President Hosni Mubarak resigned on Friday, February 11. This wave of mass popular demonstrations against US backed despotic regimes has also been going on in Algeria, Tunisia, Yemen and Jordan.

While in Afghanistan after nine years of war and occupation the Afghan people are continuing more than ever to resist and fight back against the US/NATO/Canada occupation. Coming off the heels of the deadliest year for Afghan civilians in the Canada/US/NATO occupation of Afghanistan, 2011 is looking the same as 2010. The latest attack on Afghan people came on February 15 when US forces fired a missile at a home in Helmand Province killing four innocent civilians. For the occupation forces, 2010 was the deadliest year, and on February 14 and 15 three more NATO soldiers were killed in Afghanistan.

In late 2010 the government of Canada decided to extend their mission in Afghanistan to 2014, and in 2010 we also saw the US increase its troop level to over 100 000 which resulted in a massive increase in civilian killings by occupation forces. We demand:

CANADA/US/NATO OUT OF AFGHANISTAN NOW!
TROOPS HOME NOW!
SELF DETERMINATION FOR AFGHANISTAN NOW!
