Afghanistan Update: How War and Occupation Brought More Misery for Afghan Women

In 2010 more Afghan civilians were killed than in any other year since the US and its allies unleashed its war and occupation on Afghanistan in 2001. When the government of Canada first announced they would be sending troops to Afghanistan, it was with the claim of "helping to liberate Afghan women." Yet over nine years later, an overwhelming number of reports point to a worsening situation in all aspects of Afghan womens' lives. A 2010 UN report showed that the number of female civilians killed under the occupation is increasing at an alarming rate.
