The Vancouver International Film Festival 4 Peace
will be coming to Lower Mainland audiences for the 9th consecutive
year. The film festival promotes peace through a unique collection of
documentary and feature films. This annual festival brings the
reality of war and occupation to the big screen, and brings to light
the struggle for self determination and social justice being fought
by hundreds of millions of people around the world. Year after year,
the festival features films which span the world; from Latin America
to Africa, from the Middle East to Asia, and from Europe to here in
North America. Audiences will be taken back in time through
historical classics, and will be some of the first to see new
premieres.

This year we are pleased to host Saul Landau for the
special workshop “Making a Documentary Film: A Master Class with
Saul Landau” which will provide an extraordinary perspective from
the esteemed filmmaker and will showcase some of his memorable works.
Saul Landau is an internationally renowned documentary filmmaker,
scholar, author, and commentator, as well as a Professor Emeritus at
California State University, Pomona, and a Senior Fellow at the
Institute for Policy Studies at the Berkeley Graduate School of
Journalism. Saul Landau has produced more than 40 films on social,
political and historical issues, and worldwide human rights.

Embark on a journey through Tahrir Square in Egypt
and Tunis in Tunisia, Gaza City in Palestine and Kandahar in
Afghanistan, Tripoli in Libya and Pearl Square in Bahrain, occupied
Guantanamo Bay and Havana in Cuba, Kent State in the US and
Attawapiskat Reservation in Canada, all from your seat at the Film
Festival 4 Peace.

El Festival de Cine Internacional por la Paz de
Vancouver cautivará al público el noveno año seguido. El festival
promueve la paz a través de una colección única de documentales y
películas. Dicho festival trae la realidad de la guerra y la
ocupación a la pantalla grande y da a conocer cómo cientos de
millones de personas por todas partes del mundo luchan por la
autodeterminación y la justicia social. Año tras año, el festival
destaca películas que provienen de todas partes del mundo, desde
América Latina hasta África, desde el Medio Oriente a Asia y desde
Europa hasta aquí, América del Norte. El público será llevado al
pasado a través de los clásicos históricos y se encontrará entre
los primeros de ver los nuevos estrenos.

Este año nos complace presentar a Saul Landau en el
taller especial “Hacer un documental: una clase avanzada con Saul
Landau”, que ofrecerá una perspectiva emocionante del director
estimado y destacará algunas de sus obras memorables. Saul Landau es
un director de documentales renombrado mundialmente, estudioso, autor
y comentarista, así como Profesor Emérito de California State
University de Pomona y miembro superior de número del Instituto de
los Estudios de la Política de la Escuela Superior de Periodismo de
Berkeley. Saul Landau ha producido más de 40 documentales que tratan
de asuntos sociales, políticos e históricos y los derechos humanos
por todas partes del mundo.

Emprende un viaje por la plaza Tahrir en Egipto
