IMPORTANT UPDATE: 
Gerardo Hernández, one of the 5 Cuban Heroes is currently nearing the end of his Habeas Corpus process, (filing a petition seeking release due to unlawful imprisonment) a process that could see freedom for Gerardo who faces the false and unjust charges of “conspiracy to commit espionage” and “conspiracy to commit murder.”  However the U.S. Government is currently blocking Gerardo from communication with his lawyers and Cuban officials. To make the situation worse, Gerardo, who already is suffering with health issues, has been without reason subjected to Solitary Confinement or “The Hole” since July 21ST, 2011. On August 1, 2011 the Cuban National Assembly of Peoples’ Power adopted a statement which reads: 
“The National Assembly of People’s Power demands of the United States authorities that they put an immediate halt to the unjust and illegal treatment against Gerardo Hernández. Furthermore, the National Assembly calls for the broadest solidarity of parliamentarians and all honest people to win the freedom of our Five comrades and their immediate and unconditional return to the Homeland.”

WHO ARE THE 5 CUBAN HEROES?

Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and René González, also known as the Cuban 5, are currently serving four life sentences and 75 years collectively in United States prisons. They were wrongly accused and convicted in U.S. federal court of “conspiracy to commit espionage” and other related charges. The Cuban 5 were not spies. They were involved in monitoring Miami-based terrorist organizations which since 1959 have been responsible for the deaths of over 3,400 people in Cuba, including one resident of Canada, Fabio di Celmo, in 1997. Through their important work, these 5 men were able to prevent further deaths in Cuba.

These 5 Cuban Heroes harmed no one and are in prison for giving information they had collected to the U.S. government about these groups, hoping that the U.S. would intervene and jail the terrorists. However, instead of thanking the anti-terrorist Cuban 5, the U.S. Government put them in prison and in some cases is even denying them the right of family visitations, while the terrorist responsible for murdering 73 innocent passengers in the bombing of a Cuban airliner in 1976, Luis Posada Carriles, walks free in Miami.

IMPORTANTES NOTICIAS DE ULTIMO MOMENTO:

Gerardo Hernández, uno de los 5 Heroes Cubanos esta actualmente concluyendo su proceso the apelacion (Habeas Corpus Process). En esta apelacion el esta buscando su liberacion bajo el argumento de que su sentencia fue deliberada sin leyes o razones concretas. Este apelamiento podria darle la libertad a Gerardo, el cual fue condenado bajo los aun no probados cargos de " conspiracion para cometir espionaje" y "conspiracion para cometir asesinato." Sin embargo, el gobierno Estadounidense esta actualmente impidiendo que Gerardo se comunique con sus abogados y con officiales Cubanos. Para empeorar la situacion, Gerardo ha sido castigado y sujetado al Confinamiento Solitario conocido como " El Hoyo" desde Julio 21 de el 2011. Cabe resaltar que la salud de Gerardo era delicada antes de esta reclusion. El primero de Agosto del 2011,  La Asamblea Nacional Cubana de el Poder Popular, dio la siguiente declaracion:
"La Asamblea Nacional de el Poder Popular demanda a las autoridades que pongan un inmediato final al injusto e ilegal trato hacia Gerardo." Ademas, la Asamblea de el Poder Popular hizo un llamado en el que pidio la amplia solidaridad  de los parlamentaristas y de la gente para poder ganar la libertar de nuestros Cinco compadres y asi conseguir su inmediato e incondicional regreso a casa."

El comite de Vancouver, Liberen a los 5 Cubanos, invita a toda la gente conciente y pacifica a unirse a la protesta anual numero 69. La cual sera llevada acabo en frente de el consulado Estadounidense:

¿QUIÉNES SON LOS 5 HEROES CUBANOS?

Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labañino, Fernando González y René González, también conocidos como los 5 Cubanos se encuentran actualmente cumpliendo cuatro cadenas perpetuas y setenta y cinco años colectivamente en las cárceles de los Estados Unidos. Ellos fueron acusados injustamente y condenados en un tribunal de los EE. UU. Por conspiración y espionaje, y otros cargos relacionados. Los 5 Cubanos no eran espías. Ellos estuvieron involucrados en el control de las organizaciones terroristas con base en Miami que desde 1959 han sido responsables por las muertes de más de 3,400 personas en Cuba, incluyendo a un residente de Canadá, Fabio di Celmo en 1997. Por su importante trabajo estos cinco hombres fueron capaces de prevenir muertes en Cuba.

Estos 5 Héroes Cubanos no dañaron a nadie y están en prisión por haber entregado información al gobierno de los EE.UU. acerca de lo que habían investigado respecto a esos grupos terroristas, esperando que el gobierno de los EE. UU. encarcelara a los verdaderos terroristas. Sin embargo, en vez de agradecer a los 5 anti-terroristas cubanos, el gobierno de los EE.UU. los puso en prisión e incluso en algunos casos les niega el derecho a las visitas familiares, mientras que los
terroristas responsables por el asesinato de setenta y tres personas inocentes en una aerolínea cubana en 1976, Luis Posada Carriles, se pasean libremente en Miami.
