Iraq:
Has the War & Occupation Come to an End?

On August 31, 2010
US President Obama ordered the end of US military combat operations in Iraq,
and announced that by the end of 2011 there would be a full withdrawal of US
forces. Currently, after over seven years of a brutal and bloody war on Iraq,
there are 50,000 US
troops still in Iraq,
and over 100,000 private contractors - infamous private militaries hired by the
US government
to do combat and so-called “security” operations.

 

Meanwhile, just today US troops launched a fire-fight in Baghdad
on so-called “suspected militants” – six days after the supposed end of combat
operations. As news of the supposed end of the war and occupation of Iraq
spreads, we must ask ourselves:

 

>> Why has the US
government decided to announce the end of combat operations?

>> Is the war really ending in Iraq?
Does this mean self determination for Iraq?

>> What is the US
government’s plan for Iraq?
