Seven years of Antiwar Organizing: Looking Back and Moving Forward

October 29, 2010 will commemorate the seventh anniversary of Mobilization Against War & Occupation (MAWO). In these seven years MAWO has organized against this new era of war and occupation, through several hundred events including monthly rallies and pickets, public forums and conferences, Hip Hop for Peace festivals, Film Festivals for Peace, cultural and musical events, book tours and launches, and many other events. These actions have been organized as part of a campaign for peace and to fight for the self determination of all oppressed nations.
 
To mark MAWO's seventh anniversary, we are organizing a special night to reflect on these seven years as we move forward and continue the struggle against war and occupation. MAWO'EEN will feature live music, dance and poetry from talented local artists whose art is infused with the spirit of peace and social justice.

MAWO'EEN costumes are encouraged!

The evening will feature:
>> Sangre Morena ~ Passionate Latin duo playing Romantic and Flamenco Latin American music
>> Republicka Central ~ Bringing underground Mexican hip hop for peace
>> Sonia Mejia ~ Beautiful and traditional Salvadoran and Latin American dance
>> Shakeel Lochan ~ Edge-of-your-seat spoken word
>> Max Tennant ~ Reads poetry for peace
>> Noah Fine ~ Will bring the spirit of John Lennon to us
