PUBLIC FORUM:

Nine Years of War & Occupation: What is Next for Afghanistan?
On the occasion of the 9th anniversary of the brutal war and occupation of Afghanistan

WEDNESDAY October 20
7pm
Joe's Cafe ~ in the Large North Hall
1150 Commercial Drive (at William St.)
Vancouver, Canada

October 7, 2010 marked 9 years that Canada, the US, and NATO have militarily occupied Afghanistan. As the war enters its tenth year the occupation forces are deadlocked with what to do: the death of Afghan civilians continues to rise, the corruption and problems with opium production are out of control, and the corrupt puppet Afghan government dwindles with minimal national support. And now with 2010 being the deadliest year for both US and NATO forces, there are many questions surrounding what is next for Afghanistan:

>> Why is Afghanistan occupied?
>> After 9 years, what do the occupation forces have to show for progress in Afghanistan?
>> What are the prospects for Afghanistan as it enters its tenth year under occupation?
>> Why do people of Afghanistan resist the occupation of their country?

Screening 45 minutes of documentary and news clips followed by speaker and discussion

Speaker: Ali Yerevani, Political Editor of the Fire This Time (FTT) Newspaper and Participant in the 1979 Iranian Revolution
