Thomas Radcliffe is an incredible traveling folk artist. He is a Vietnam era American War Resister and Conscientious Objector living predominately in Victoria, BC, but always on the move throughout BC and the U.S. with his musical message of love and peace. He has become over the passed 3 decades an anti-war and social justice icon who has contributed to the cause of humanity with his music and social activism.

Recently a new campaign was launched for the 5 Cuban Heroes in the U.S. The campaign launched by the National Committee to Free the Five is directed to raise $62,000 in order to purchase a full page advertisement in the Washington Post newspaper, the major newspaper in the U.S. capital, demanding the immediate release of the 5 Cuban Heroes. 

The Free the Cuban 5 Committee-Vancouver is launching activities in Vancouver to help in the important cause to raise the necessary funds for the Washington Post advertisement and add international support to the U.S. campaign to free the 5 Cuban Heroes. This event will also mark the beginning of a special month in Vancouver of solidarity with the Cuban 5 in which a series of events across B.C. will be organized on university/college campuses, high schools and in the streets for an educational campaign for the 5 Cuban Heroes. 

The Free the Cuban 5 Committee-Vancouver is inviting you to enjoy a night of beautiful folk music performed by Thomas P. Radcliffe, and assist in the raising of the money needed to help break the media blockade against the 5 Cuban Heroes in the U.S. All donations and proceeds collected at the events will be donated to the National Committee to Free the Five in the U.S. for the campaign for the full-page Washington Post advertisement.

WHO ARE THE 5 CUBAN HEROES?

Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and René González, also known as the Cuban 5, are currently serving four life sentences and 75 years collectively in United States jails. They were wrongly accused and convicted in U.S. federal court of “Conspiracy to commit espionage” and other related charges. The Cuban 5 were not spies. They were involved in monitoring Miami-based terrorist organizations which since 1959 have been responsible for the deaths of over 3,400 people in Cuba, including one resident of Canada, Fabio di Celmo, in 1997. Through their important work, these 5 men were able to prevent further deaths in Cuba.

These 5 Cuban Heroes harmed no one and are in prison for giving information they had collected to the U.S. government about these groups, hoping that the U.S. would intervene and jail the terrorists. However, instead of thanking the anti-terrorist Cuban 5, the U.S. Government put them in prison and in some cases even denying them the right of family visitations, while the terrorist responsible for murdering 73 innocent passengers on a Cuban airline in 1976 walks free in Miami. 

September 12, 2010 marked the 12th year of the unjust imprisonment of the Cuban 5. It is time to put an end to their unjust imprisonment, please join us!

Thomas Radcliffe es un increíble artista viajero de música folk. Durante la guerra de Vietnam fue un opositor de conciencia  y parte del movimiento en contra de la guerra.  Actualmente vive la mayor parte de su tiempo en Victoria, B.C., pero siempre está desplazándose por todo B.C. y los EU para transmitir su mensaje musical de amor y paz.

Recientemente fue lanzada una campaña para los 5 Héroes Cubanos que se encuentran en prisión en los EU. La campaña es promovida por el Comité Nacional para la Liberación de los 5 Cubanos, y está dirigida con el propósito  de recaudar la cantidad de $62,000 dólares con el fin de poder publicar un anuncio exigiendo  la liberación inmediata de los 5 Héroes Cubanos  en una de las páginas del periódico Washington Post., el cual es uno de los más grandes periódicos de la capital de los EU.

El Comité de Vancouver para la Liberación de los 5 Cubanos está realizando diferentes  actividades en Vancouver para ayudar a la importante causa de la recaudación de fondos necesarios para la compra del anuncio en el periódico Washington Post, y asimismo sumarse al apoyo internacional a la campaña de los EU. para la liberación de los 5 Cubanos. Este evento, cabe mencionar, marca el comienzo del inicio de un especial mes en Vancouver de solidaridad con los 5 Cubanos; ya que se estarán realizando una serie de eventos en todo B.C. y los cuales serán organizados en diferentes campus de universidades y escuelas, y en las calles se estará realizando una  campaña educacional acerca de los 5 Héroes Cubanos.

El Comité de Vancouver para la Liberación de los 5 Cubanos te invita a disfrutar de una noche con agradable música Folk por parte del artista Thomas Radcliffe, y asimismo ayudar en la recaudación de dinero necesario para romper el bloqueo mediático en contra de los 5 Héroes Cubanos en EU. Todas las donaciones y los fondos recaudados en los eventos serán donados al Comité Nacional para la Liberación de los 5 de los EU. para la campaña de la publicación del anuncio en el periódico Washington Post.

¿Quiénes son los 5 Héroes Cubanos?

Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González y René González, también conocidos como los 5 Cubanos, se encuentran actualmente en prisión cumpliendo cuatro cadenas perpetuas y 75 años colectivamente en cárceles estadounidenses. Ellos fueron acusados injustamente y condenados en una corte federal en EU. por “Conspiración de espionaje” y otros cargos relacionados. Los 5 cubanos no fueron espías, ellos estuvieron involucrados en el control de las organizaciones terroristas con sede en Miami que desde 1959 han sido responsables de la muerte de más de 3,400 personas en Cuba, incluyendo a un residente de Canadá, Fabio di Celmo, en 1997. A través de su importante labor estos cinco hombres fueron capaces de evitar más muertes en Cuba.

Estos 5 Héroes Cubanos que no dañaron a nadie y que están en prisión por haber entregado información al gobierno de los EU. acerca de lo que habían investigado respecto a grupos terroristas; con la esperanza de que ese gobierno interviniera y encarcelara a los terroristas. Sin embargo, en vez de agradecer a los 5 anti-terroristas cubanos, el gobierno de los EU. los puso en prisión e incluso en algunos casos  les niega el derecho a las visitas familiares, mientras que los terroristas responsables por el asesinato de setenta y tres personas inocentes en una aerolínea cubana en 1976 se pasean  libremente en Miami.

El 12 de septiembre marcó el 12 º año del injusto encarcelamiento de los 5 Cubanos. Es hora de poner de poner fin a su injusto encarcelamiento, por favor únete a nosotros.
