For over eight and a half years the people of Afghanistan have suffered massacres, terror, destruction and the occupation of their country at the hands of US/Canada/NATO forces. Recent reports also point to the role of the Canadian military in the torture of Afghan detainees and the killings of Afghan people. This criminal war has taken its toll on the people of Afghanistan, as well as on Canadian soldiers, who are pawns in this war for imperialist profit. On Monday May 24th, Trooper Larry Rudd became the 146th soldier to die in this war.  

 

On Tuesday May 18th, a NATO convoy was bombed in Kabul, which killed Colonel Geoff Parker, the highest ranking Canadian soldier to die Afghanistan. On Wednesday May 19th, Afghan resistance fighters launched an attack on the US-run Bagram Air Base. On Saturday May 22nd, another attack was launched against the Kandahar Air Base. The message from the Afghan resistance is clear ~ foreign occupying troops are not welcome in Afghanistan.
