For over eight and a half years, Canada, the US and NATO have been part of a vicious war drive against the people of Afghanistan. The promises made by the occupation forces for "democracy" and "women's rights" have proved to be outright lies and an excuse to occupy Afghanistan and plunder their resources. Due to the ongoing war, Afghan people face bombings of their villages, being shot at checkpoints, detention and torture. As well, there is widespread poverty, lack of health care and education, and unemployment that is a result of the foreign war and occupation imposed on Afghan people.
 
Those who know what is best for Afghanistan are the Afghan people. Protests are increasing and the Afghan resistance is growing every day, while attacks against military bases and occupation forces are on the rise. One wonders why the government of Canada is spending billions of dollars to kill and torture Afghans and send young men and women from Canada to Afghanistan to come back in body bags while money could be spent here in Canada to improve the lives of people in Canada. On June 6, 2010 Martin Goudreault became the 147th Canadian soldier to be killed in Afghanistan. We should echo the demand of the Afghan people: FOREIGN TROOPS OUT NOW!
