On Sunday July 4 David Petraeus became the new US/NATO Commander in Afghanistan, 
replacing General Stanley McCrystal. The change comes at a time when the 
Canada/US/NATO quagmire in Afghanistan continues to deepen. June was the 
deadliest month for US and NATO forces as 102 troops were killed. And on July 13 
an Afghan soldier opened fire on British soldiers killing three of them.

The replacing of McCrystal with Petraeus has not changed the nature of this 
occupation. Afghans still face bombings of their villages, being shot at
checkpoints, detention and torture. On July 10th thousands of Afghans took to 
the streets in the Province of Balkhto calling for an end to the occupation of 
their country.

Mobilization Against War & Occupation (MAWO) is calling on peace loving people 
in Vancouver to join the call for an end to this war and occupation.
