Jose Luis Baquedano is the acting Secretary General of the United Workers Federation of Honduras (CUTH), which represents 250,000 urban and rural workers.  He is also  a representative of the National Front of Resistance Against the Coup in Honduras, and the founder and President of the Mental Health Workers Union of Honduras.

January 28 will mark the seventh month since a U.S. sponsored military coup overthrew the democratically elected President of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya. The coup regime has continued with widepsread repression of the people of Honduras and has also organized fradulent elections in an attempt to legitimize itself. On January 27th the coup regime is planning on handing over the Presidency to the winner of these so-called elections, Porfirio Lobo.
 
However, Honduran people have mobilized in the millions to oppose the coup and continue to demand the restoration of President Manuel Zelaya, and to fight for their dignity and human rights. Jose Luis Baquedano is a central organizer in this massive movement, and will give a presentation on the realites of life and the movement in Honduras today. He will also be available for a question and answer period following the presentation. 
 
Part of a North American tour co-sponsored by the The Portland Central America Solidarity Committee and the San Francisco Central Labor Council.

Jose Luis Baquedano es el Secretario General Interino de la Confederación Unitaria de Trabajadores de Honduras (CUTH), que representa a 250.000 trabajadores urbanos y rurales. Él es también un representante del Frente Nacional de Resistencia contra el Golpe de Estado en Honduras, y el fundador y presidente de la Unión de Trabajadores de Salud Mental de Honduras.

28 de enero marcará el séptimo mes desde que EE.UU. patrocinó el golpe militar que derrocó al Presidente democráticamente electo de Honduras, Manuel Zelaya. El régimen del golpe de Estado ha continuado con la represión sistematica al pueblo de Honduras que también organizo las elecciones fradulentas en un intento de legitimarse. El 27 de enero el régimen golpista está planeando  la entrega de la Presidencia al ganador de estas llamadas elecciones, Porfirio Lobo. 
  
Sin embargo, los hondureños se han movilizado por millones al oponerse al golpe de estado y siguen exigiendo la restauración del Presidente Manuel Zelaya, y siguen luchando por su dignidad y los derechos humanos. José Luis Baquedano es un organizador fundador de este movimiento masivo, y  dará una presentación sobre la Réalidades de la vida actual  del movimiento en Honduras. También estará disponible durante un período de preguntas y respuestas tras la presentación.
