How Must the Antiwar Movement Respond to the Crisis in Haiti?

On Tuesday January 12, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake shook Haiti and brought widespread destruction, death and injuries to the country. In efforts to help the Haitian people recover from this catastrophe, both the social justice movement and many people around the world have responded through donating to aid agencies and by urging their governments to send aid.
 
However, the government of Canada and the US have taken advantage of this earthquake, and of people wanting to help Haiti, by sending 2000 troops from Canada and at least 10,000 troops from the US. The governments of Canada and the US are not sending troops to help the Haitian people, but to consolidate their occupation which started with the Canada/US/France overthrow of the democratically elected President Aristide in 2004.
 
In efforts to help Haiti, how do we retain an antiwar perspective on Haiti? How can the social justice movement counter troops being sent to Haiti while ensuring that Haiti receives aid, rescue workers, doctors, and engineers?

El martes 12 de enero, un terremoto de magnitud 7,0 sacudió Haití y trajo una gran destrucción, muerte y lesiones en el país. En un esfuerzo por ayudar al pueblo haitiano a recuperarse de esta catástrofe, tanto el movimiento de justicia social, como muchas personas alrededor del mundo han respondido a través de donaciones a los organismos de ayuda y por exhortar a sus gobiernos a enviar ayuda. 

Sin embargo, el gobierno de Canadá y los EE.UU. han tomado ventaja ante esta situacion, y se han aprobechado de personas que quieren ayudar a Haití, mediante el envío de 2.000 tropas de Canadá y al menos 10.000 soldados de los EE.UU. Los gobiernos de Canadá y los EE.UU. no estan mandando  tropas para ayudar al pueblo haitiano, sino para consolidar su ocupación, que comenzó con el derrocamiento del Presidente Aristide (elegido democráticamente en 2004), patrocinado por Canadá / Estados Unidos / Francia. 
En los esfuerzos para ayudar a Haití, ¿cómo podemos nosotros mantener una perspectiva encontra la guerra en Haití? ¿Cómo pueden las tropas contra el movimiento por la justicia social, de ser enviados a Haití asegur al mismo tiempo que Haití reciba real ayuda, y proteccion para los trabajadores de rescate, médicos e ingenieros?
