the line up:
canary sing
*<< official CD launch north of the border >> *
The mulatto in America functions as a canary in a coal mine. Canaries were
used by coal miners to gauge how poisonous the air underground was. We
are the first generation of canaries to survive, a little injured perhaps,
but alive! (Danzy Senna, /Caucasia/). CanarySing is ispire and lioness.
khingz
If punk rock and blues met in a dark, cigarette-smoke hidden speakeasy in
Gotham City, and overwhelmed by jazz-induced lust bore a child they raised
in a ghetto to an alternative soundtrack, you'd get Khingz. He transcends
the meanings of liberation through music and carries forth his vision to
uplift minds in today's society.
bpm
BPM is a dirty fusion of hip hop, bhangra and dancehall rhythm and rhymes,
with some instrumentals and surprise vocals in the mix. Tarun Nayar,
Nadia Chaney and Rupinder Sidhu work an intimate yet thumping vibe of
conscious, fundamentally wicked sounds from the underground. Bound to the
rhythm, bounce to the vision.
los migrantes
Arriving from different planes on the same stolen land to be welcomed by
denial then raised by anti's, mentored by stereos and reclaimed by
community, Los Migrantes are influenced by their routes. Their sound is
the grinding cadence of nomadic music, poetics and politics pushing the
smoothe of horizons. In the midst of World War 0ngoing,
turntablist/producer DJ Su-Comandante & lyricist Stahz Grandson offer
broken translation.
