PUBLIC FORUM:
Afghanistan, Iraq and Palestine: Prospects for Struggle in the Coming Year
WEDNESDAY January 6
6:30pm
Joe's Cafe in Large North Hall
1150 Commercial Drive (at William Street)
2009 was a year that saw an escalation of attacks on the people living under war and occupation around the world. Despite these attacks, 2009 was also a year of heroic and strong resistance to war and occupation, and the continued fight for self determination of oppressed nations.
As we enter 2010, what are the major issues and challenges that are facing our world and the antiwar movement? What are the US plans for the continued occupation of Iraq? What is the strategy behind sending an additional 30,000 and the prospect of more US troops to Afghanistan this year? What are the alternatives in occupied Palestine, after 62 years of the oppressive and racist Israeli state? Most importantly, how must the antiwar movement respond to these ongoing human crisis’s and what are the options for going forward into 2010 and beyond? How can we win these battles and set the path to a better world?
