The first day of the 8th Annual Vancouver International Film Festival for Peace was attended by more than 200 people. Guest speakers brought a closer connection to the educational, emotional and thought provoking films.

After a day of seeing US wars against the world, the film festival is gearing up for Day 2 of this theme, as well as to introduce the section "What About Canada?"

In addition to the films, the festival features social justice art exhibits, including colorful posters of different antiwar activities from Mobilization Against War & Occupation (MAWO) over the last seven years.

Films we will be screening today include: 
Catch 22, Rethink Afghanistan, Cuba: An African Odyssey, Kanehsatake: 270 Years of Resistance as well as others including films on Cuba and Honduras.
 
Admission is free, and food and refreshments will be available.
