The first day of Hip Hop vs. War 5 hit Surrey with messages of peace and justice through the rhymes and rhythms of MC’s, Hip Hop crews and breakdancers! The crowd heard the perspectives of socially conscious artists in the “Rebel Without a Pause” opening forum, and then got a chance to learn MC’ing and breakdancing skills from some of Vancouver’s finest artists. The day was topped off with the “Louder than a Bomb!” show, which featured talented MC’s who had the crowd on their feet until the end of the night! Day 1 ended with the anticipation of more Hip Hop vs. War to come at Sunday’s “It’s Bigger than Hip Hop" all day show…

The Metro Vancouver region is once again the base camp for Mobilization Against War and Occupation’s 5th Annual International Hip Hop Festival Against War and Occupation ~ HIP HOP VERSUS WAR 5! Over the course of 48 hours, a veritable army of MC’s, DJ’s, breakdancers, graffiti artists, beatboxers, spoken word poets and participants from all continents are coming together to showcase a blistering arsenal of radical sentiment and robust hope for humanity. 

Last year’s 2008 Hip Hop Versus War 4 Festival was a great success, bringing together over 1,700 people over the two day festival who answered the MCs’ call to “put your peace signs up!” and chanted “We love hip hop ~ no to war!” in the same breath. This unique festival reached the national scene, with media coverage from CBC TV. 

This year’s festival is featuring, for the first time in Western Canada, ‘Obsesion,’ direct from Cuba! Obsesion, the pioneers of Cuban hip hop, will bring the flavor of the Cuban spirit and revolutionary dedication to our collective struggle for humanity. This global phenomenon of hip hop is a language of resistance to oppression spoken around the world ~ from Palestinian refugee camps, to the ghettos of New York City, from Latin American barrios, to the Native nations of North America. Don’t miss this one of a kind festival this weekend!

El primer día de Hip Hop vs Guerra 5 golpe Surrey con mensajes de paz y justicia a través de las rimas y ritmos de MC's y B-Boys/B-Girls! La multitud escuchó las perspectivas de los artistas con conciencia social en el "Rebelde sin Pausa" apertura del foro, y luego tuvo la oportunidad de aprender y el B-Boy y  MC'ing habilidades de algunos de los mejores artistas de Vancouver. El día fue coronada con el "Más Fuerte que una Bomba!" show, que incluyó talentoso MC's que había entre la multitud en sus pies hasta el final de la noche! Día 1 terminó con la anticipación de más Hip Hop vs Guerra a venir en domingo "Es Más Grande que Hip Hop" todo el día Hip Hop Show...

La región metropolitana de Vancouver es de nuevo el campamento de base para el 5to Festival Anual e Internacional de Hip Hop Contra la Guerra y la Ocupación. !HIP HOP CONTRA LA 5to GUERRA! En el transcurso de 48 horas, un verdadero ejército de MC's, DJ's, B-Boy’s/B-Girl’s, Graffiteros, Beatboxers, Poetas Parlantes y participantes de todos los continentes se reunirán para exhibir un arsenal de sentimiento radical y firme esperanza para la humanidad. 

El pasado año 2008, el Cuarto Festival de Hip Hop Contra la Guerra fue un gran éxito, el cual en tan solo dos dias reunió a más de 1.700 personas quienes al ritmo de los MCs levantaron en alto sus manos con el signo de paz "y corearon" al unisono ! No a la guerra, nos encanta el Hip Hop ! con cobertura de los medios de CBC televisión el Festival 2008 llegó a la escena nacional.

Para el festival de este año se presenta, por primera vez en el Oeste de Canadá, para poner a brincar y a pensar a toda la flota, "Obsesión", directamente desde Cuba! y con una gran experiencia de intercambio en varias partes del mundo traerán el sabor del espíritu revolucionario cubano y la dedicación a nuestra lucha colectiva por la humanidad.
