March 8th marked International Women’s Day ~ a time to celebrate the gains women’s have made, and to further advance the rights of mothers, daughters, sisters and friends around the world. Despite the many achievements women have made, the new era of war and occupation we are living in today is turning back the clock on women’s rights, in countries under war and occupation as well as here at home.
>From Afghanistan and Iraq to Canada, women are fighting just to survive, while the fight for rights and dignity remains. In the countries under occupation, an end to the occupations will put women in a better position to fight for their rights. These important topics were opened in the first forum of this series on Monday March 9th at the Whalley Public Library in Surrey. We invite all women, and men to join us for the second forum to further discuss the issues women are facing, the achievements made, and how we must advance the women’s movement.
