In the first three weeks of 2009, the Zionist Israeli regime devastated Gaza with a brutal siege of bombing and assault by Israeli air, land and sea forces. This genocidal siege indiscriminately killed over 1,400 Palestinian people, over half of whom were innocent women and children. Even after the Israeli siege was officially ended, Gaza remains under an over two year long crippling blockade of vital food, medicine, fuel and other necessities.
 
In recent weeks US President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu held talks about the future for so called peace in Israel. In these negotiations between the world’s biggest imperialist and its Zionist counterpart, the rights of the Palestinian people to their human and democratic rights as well as self determination for Palestinians, which is already delayed for 61 years, were completely disregarded. 
 
The massacre of the latest siege on Gaza was one of many massacres in the over 100 years of Zionist encroachment and later occupation of Palestine This forum will discuss the roots of conflict, the prospects for change, and the role of the antiwar and Palestine solidarity movement in this struggle.
 
Guest speaker: Shawkat Hasan, long time Palestinian rights activist and President of the Delta Richmond East NDP riding
