On July 5th, almost two hundred thousand protesters crowded outside of Honduras' main airport to welcome back their democratically- elected President, Manuel Zelaya, who was trying to return after a right-wing military coup d'etat forced him out of the country. In spite of the overwhelming support from Honduran people, and in defiance of the international demand for Zelaya's return, his aircraft was blocked from landing by the military, and the coup leaders ordered the continuing repression of Honduran people. The military opened fire on demonstrators and media, killing two people, including one teenager. 
 
Every day since Zelaya was ousted by the military coup on June 28th, Hondurans have taken to the streets in defence of their president and their constitution, in spite of violent repression by the coup leaders. 
 
In Vancouver, the Committee in Solidarity with the People of Honduras is making an open call-out to activists and organizations committed to the cause of the people of Honduras to get involved in this action, and it is important for the international solidarity movement to unite. To get involved please come to our open organizing meeting on Thursday, July 17th, at 7pm at the Chilean Housing coop (3390 School Avenue).

El 5 de julio, en el aeropuerto principal de Honduras, doscientos mil personas se manifestaron para dar la bienvenida a su presidente elegido democraticamente, Manuel Zelaya Rosales, quien trataba de regresar después del golpe de estado militar de la derecha, quien lo forzo a salir del país. A pesar del abrumador apoyo y desafio del pueblo y la demanda internacional por el regreso de Mel Zelaya . Su vuelo fué bloqueado, no dejandole aterrizar por los militares y  los golpistas quienes ordenaron la repreción a el pueblo de Honduras. Los militares dispararon a los manifestantes y a los reporteros, asesinando 2 personas  incluido un adolecente.    

El pueblo Hondureño se han manifestado en las calles desde el golpe Militar 28 de Junio para defender su constitución, a pesar de la represion violenta de parte de los golpistas.

En Vancouver, el Comité de Solidaridad con el Pueblo de Honduras esta haciendo un llamado publico a invitar a todas las organizaciones y individuos que se solarisen con la lucha del pueblo Hondureno a participar en la organización de esta  importante manifestación. La derecha se ha organizado en Honduras, y es importante que el movimiento internacional de solidaridad nos unamos. Reunion abierto el jueves 17 de julio, en 7pm en el Cooperativa Chilena  (3390 School Ave)
