2009 has started off as one of the bloodiest years of the Canada/NATO occupation of Afghanistan. On Monday, February 23rd Afghans protested after Canadian rockets murdered two children and injured five other innocent civilians. This is the latest in an ongoing escalation of violence caused by Canada and its allies in their war against Afghanistan. While the occupiers continue to kill Afghans, they also continue to deny the necessities for Afghans as 7+ years of occupation has still not brought women’s rights, health care, education, and clean drinking water. This war drive has also meant suffering for people in Canada too as 108 Canadian soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan since the war began.

This devastating occupation has had consequences for Afghanistan’s neighbours. Canada has supported the US in its bombing campaign in Pakistan that has so far killed hundreds of Pakistani civilians. This is a further assault on the sovereignty of another third world country.

Last month MAWO reached the unfortunate milestone of its 50th picket against the Canada/NATO occupation of Afghanistan. MAWO will continue to picket against the Canada/NATO occupation of Afghanistan until it comes to an end. Social justice and peace loving people are encouraged to come join MAWO at the Canadian Forces Recruitment Centre to demand:

Canada/NATO Out of Afghanistan NOW!
Independent Public Inquiry into the Government of Canada’s War Drive in Afghanistan!
U.S. Hands Off Pakistan!
