This New Year began with a new era of the genocide of Palestinian people in Gaza, as the latest massacre by Israel spent 22 days laying siege on Gaza. This genocidal siege amounted to the indiscriminate killing of over 1,300 innocent Palestinians, half of whom were children and women, the wounding of over 5,500 Palestinian people, and the destruction of homes, schools, mosques, roads, hospitals and even UN centers where civilians were sheltered. Since Israel’s so called ceasefire, Palestinian people are still being targeted by Israeli air strikes, shootings and the strangling blockade on Gaza. After all of this killing and destruction, Israel has still failed in their objectives, and the will of the Palestinian people to resist the Zionist Israeli regime remains unbroken. 
Before the siege on Gaza, Palestinians faced 18 months of the Israeli blockade on Gaza, cutting off essential food, fuel, and medicine. Looking further back, through over 100 years of Zionist migration, settlements and occupation in Palestine, and the formation of the state of Israel, Palestinians have struggled against suffering, killing and terrorism. 
This conference will be an opportunity to open discussion on these topics, as well as how the antiwar movement must organize to oppose the Zionist occupation of Palestine.
