SPECIAL CULTURAL NIGHT FOR THE CUBAN 5!
Marking the 10th Anniversary of their Unjust Imprisonment

A CALL OUT TO ALL:
Throughout history people around the world have presented and promoted
their opposition to injustice through the means of art. Through
poetry, painting, music, dance, and more –it has been way of
connecting people yearning for change, and with a desire for justice.

Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez and
Fernando Gonzalez; are five Cuban men that were sent to the United
States to investigate US backed terrorists that have been committing
crimes against their country for years. September 12th marks the 10th
year of their unjust arrest and imprisonment. During these past years
these five men have expressed their experiences not only through
political writings but also through poetry and all forms of art,
documenting and sharing with all those who want to see the true world
through their eyes. Artists around the world have also been coming
together through their own art in support of the 5 Cuban heroes.

SPECIAL APPEAL:
On September 12th, the Free the Cuban 5 Committee-Vancouver with
the help and support of Vancouver Communities in Solidarity with Cuba
(VCSC) is organizing a cultural night in commemoration and solidarity
with the 5 Cuban Heroes. The Free the Cuban 5 Committee - Vancouver
is putting out an open call to all those who would like to submit
their poetry to read and/or present at this cultural night. What we
are asking you is specifically to write a poem about the Cuban 5
Heroes and their struggle.

Let us think of as many creative ways of demanding justice for the 5
heroes as possible! Please submit your poetry to us by September 11th, to be included in a commemorative booklet available at the event. This booklet will be a collection of all the poetry, and will be sent to the 5 Cuban Heroes and their families.

Bring your family and friends for a night of original and inspiring
poetry for the 5 Heroes, as well as a showcase of artwork by the Cuban
5, including their poetry.

Doors open @ 7pm at Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House (800 East
Broadway 1 block east of Fraser on Broadway)

Admission by donation.

Noche Cultural Especial por los 5 cubanos!
Marcando el 10 º Aniversario de su injusto encarcelamiento

UN LLAMADO A TODAS Y TODOS:
A lo largo de la historia en todo el mundo las personas han presentado
y promovido su oposición a la injusticia por medio del arte. A través
de la poesía, pintura, música, danza y mucho más- ha sido la manera de
conectar a la gente anhelante de cambio, y con un deseo de justicia.

Ramon Labaniño, Antonio Guerrero, René González, Gerardo Hernández y
Fernando González, son cinco hombres cubanos que fueron enviados a los
Estados Unidos para investigar terroristas respaldados por EE.UU. que
habían venido cometiendo crímenes en contra de su país(CUBA) durante
años. El 12 de Septiembre marca el 10 º año de su injusta detención y
encarcelamiento. Durante estos últimos años, estos cinco hombres han
expresado sus experiencias no sólo a través de escritos políticos,
sino también a través de la poesía y todas las formas de arte,
documentando y compartiendo con todos aquellos que quieren ver el
mundo real a través de sus ojos. Artistas de todo el mundo también se
han reunido a través de su propio arte en apoyo de los 5 héroes
cubanos.

RECURSO EXTRAORDINARIO:
En septiembre 12, el Comité de Liberación de los Cinco Cubanos de
Vancouver con la ayuda y el apoyo de Comunidades de Vancouver en
Solidaridad con Cuba (VCSC) está organizando una noche cultural en
conmemoración y solidaridad con los 5 héroes cubanos. El Comité de
Liberación de los Cinco Cubanos está poniendo a cabo una convocatoria
abierta a todos aquellos que desean presentar su poesía para leer y /
o presentar en esta noche cultural. Lo que estamos pidiendo
específicamente es que usted escriba un poema sobre los 5 Héroes
cubanos y su lucha.

Pensemos en la mayor cantidad de maneras creativas de exigir justicia
para los 5 héroes como sea posible!

Le invitamos a submitir su poesia a nosotros a mas tardar el 11 de Septiembre, para que sea incluida en un folleto conmemorativo que estara disponible en el evento. Este folleto sera una recopilacion de todas las poesias, y sera enviada a los 5 Heroes Cubanos y sus familias.
