On this same day supporters of the 5 in Montreal will also be protesting in front of the U.S. Consulate in that city in their newly begun monthly protest campaign to:

The Case: 10 Years of Injustice

Between 1994 and 1995, Cuba sent five unarmed men, Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino, Fernando González and René González on a mission to infiltrate and expose Miami-based terrorist groups such as Alpha 66, Omega 7, Brothers to the Rescue and the Cuban American National Foundation. These groups and others are responsible for hundreds of terrorist attacks which, according to Radio Habana, have taken the lives of more than 3,400 people in Cuba since 1959.
The well-documented list of atrocities committed by these groups and others is long. It includes the bombing of hotels in Cuba, assassinations, spreading of diseases, sabotage, and attacks against Cuba’s supporters in the US. An important example of these attacks was the bombing of the Lincoln Center in 1978 after a Cuban ballet performance. Another, and one of the most horrendous attacks, was the bombing of a Cuban airliner in 1976, which took the lives of 73 people. The 5 Cuban Heroes were gathering evidence to expose the terrorists responsible for these crimes against Cuba and humanity.
Cuba released all the information that the 5 collected to the FBI. However, on September 12th 1998, the FBI arrested the Cuban 5 and threw them in solitary confinement for 17 months. The 5 Cuban Heroes have been unjustly held in US prisons for over 10 years. 

Who are These 5 Heroes?

These five were very accomplished and highly regarded in Cuba. According to the website of the National Committee to Free the Cuban Five (US):
> Gerardo Hernández studied international political relations. He fought as part of the Cuban forces in Angola against South African apartheid. Gerardo is a cartoonist and humourist, who has had many of his drawings published, including in his own book, “You Can Achieve Everything with Love and Humor”.
> Antonio Guerrero was born in Miami. His parents returned to Cuba shortly after the triumph of the Cuban revolution. Antonio studied airfield construction engineering in Kiev, Ukraine. He is also a great poet and has had his works published in both English and Spanish.
> Ramón Labañino studied and graduated with a degree in economics. He is also a very skilled athlete who participated in the All-Caribbean games.
> Fernando González graduated with a degree in international political relations. He was a student leader with the Federation of University Students (FEU) in Cuba during his studies. He also fought against the invading South African apartheid regime in Angola.
> René González was born in Chicago. His family returned to Cuba a couple of years after the victory of the Cuban revolution. He studied aviation and graduated as a pilot and flight instructor.

¡Unase al Comité-Vancouver por la Libertad para los 5 Cubanos a la protesta frente al consulado de los E.E.U.U. en nuestra 35ta protesta mensual para liberar a los 5 Héroes Cubanos de cárceles de los E.E.U.U.! En este el mismo día los simpatizantes de los 5 en Montreal también protestarán frente al consulado de los E.E.U.U. en esa ciudad en su recién iniciada campaña de protesta mensual: 

¡LIBEREN YA A LOS 5 CUBANOS! 

El caso: 10 años de injusticia

Entre 1994 y 1995, Cuba envió cinco hombres desarmados, Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino, Fernando González y René González en una misión para infiltrar y para exhibir a grupos de terroristas con base en Miami tales como Alpha 66, Omega 7, Brothers to the Rescue y la Cuban American National Foundation. Estos grupos y otros son responsables de centenares de atentados terroristas que, según Radio Habana, han costado las vidas de más de 3.400 personas en Cuba desde 1959. 

Esta  bien documentada lista de atrocidades cometidas por estos grupos y otros es larga. Incluye el bombardeo de hoteles en Cuba, asesinatos, la dispersión de contagios y enfermedades, el sabotaje, y ataques contra los partidarios de Cuba en los E.E.U.U. Un ejemplo importante de estos ataques era el bombardeo del Lincoln Center en 1978 después de una función del ballet cubano. Otro, y uno de los ataques más horrendos, fue el bombardeo de un avión de pasajeros cubano en 1976, que quito las vidas de 73 personas. Los 5 Héroes Cubanos recolectaban evidencia para exhibir a los terroristas responsables de estos crímenes contra Cuba y La Humanidad. 

Cuba libero toda la información que los 5 recogieron al FBI. Sin embargo, el 12 de septiembre de 1998, el FBI arrestó a los 5 Cubanos y los puso en reclusión solitaria por 17 meses. Los 5 Héroes Cubanos han sido detenidos injustamente en las prisiones de los E.E.U.U. por más de 10 años. 

¿Quién son estos 5 héroes? 

Estos cinco eran muy talentosos y respetados en Cuba. Según el Web site del Comité Nacional para Liberar los cinco cubanos (en E.E.U.U.): 

> Gerardo Hernández estudió relaciones políticas internacionales. Él luchó como parte de las fuerzas cubanas en Angola contra el apartheid en Sudáfrica. Gerardo es un dibujante y humorista, que ha tenido muchos de sus dibujos publicados, incluyendo en su propio libro, “Usted puede alcanzar todo con amor y humor”. 
> Antonio Guerrero nació en Miami. Sus padres volvieron a Cuba poco después del triunfo de la revolución cubana. Antonio estudió Ingeniería Civil de Aviación en Kiev, Ucrania. Él es también gran poeta y ha tenido trabajos publicados en inglés y español. 

> Ramón Labaniño estudio y se graduo en Economía. Él es también un atleta talentoso que participó en los juegos Del Caribe. 
> Fernando González graduó en relaciones políticas internacionales. Él era un líder estudiantil con la Federación de los Estudiantes Universitarios (FEU) en Cuba durante sus estudios. Él también luchó contra el régimen del apartheid Surafricano invasor en Angola.
> René González nació en Chicago. Su familia volvió a Cuba un par de años después de la victoria de la revolución cubana. Él estudió la aviación y graduó como un piloto e instructor del vuelo.
