The time has come to commemorate Mobilization Against War & Occupation’s five years of struggle for peace! In solidarity with oppressed nations around the world, MAWO has organized countless protest actions, educational events, cultural nights and festivals in defence of the right of oppressed nations to self-determination. 

This is a time of commemoration and reflection of the struggle that MAWO has been a part of, fuelled and inspired by the resistance of millions of oppressed people who refuse to give up their fight against war. This is also a time to reaffirm MAWO’s commitment to continue to organize and mobilize against war and occupation. 

‘MAWO’een’ is a very special night for activists and supporters to get together and enjoy music, poetry and dancing, as well as a slideshow of MAWO’s history! We will be joined by artists who have supported and been a part of our organizing over the years, and continue to express the struggle for a better world through their art. We welcome everyone to join us for MAWO’s anniversary, and ‘MAWO’een costumes are encouraged! 

Night will include:
>> Plazma ~ Hip hop talent from Joose Justice and Toxic
>> The Dawn Daughta ~ Rocking out smooth hip hop beats
>> Vertiflow ~ Vancity hip hop archivist and an MC of conscious rhymes 
>> Mi Mexico ~ Traditional and beautiful Mexican and El Salvadorian dances
>> Joaquin Ernesto ~ Latin American singing and songs of social justice
>> Alex Chichack ~ Guitarist and singer of soulful lyrics 
>> Brotha Alwell ~ Tap dancing extraordinaire!
>> Eli Williams ~ Elvis tribute artist!
>> Shakeel Lochan ~ Poetic verses from MAWO organizer
