Just recently Prime Minister Steven Harper and Defence
Minister Peter MacKay announced that $30 billion is being
put into the ‘Canada First Defence Strategy,’ a 20 year plan
for building up Canada’s military with details that are only
disclosed to cabinet ministers. With this announcement it is
clear that Canada’s escalating war drive will not be over in
2011, which is what Canada’s Parliament decided will be the
new extended end date of their occupation of Afghanistan. As
50 – 60 thousand children beg on the streets of Kabul
(UNICEF), this notion of ‘liberation’ that Canada has fostered
in Afghanistan is set to continue into 2011 and beyond.

While Canada is making its long term military strategy, the
US government is negotiating their ‘Status of Forces’
agreement with the Iraqi government over its long term military
role in the country. Beyond their backroom deals, the US
continues to kill Iraqi people, and just earlier this week a US
helicopter air assault near Baghdad killed eight Iraqi civilians,
including two children, adding to the 1.2 million Iraqi’s estimated
to have died due to this war. 

>From the impending attacks on Iran, to 5 years of war on Iraq,
to 6 ½ in Afghanistan, to 60 years of the occupation of Palestine,
to hundreds of years of genocide against Indigenous Nations in
Canada, peace-loving, poor and working people will be out on the
streets of Vancouver this Saturday to protest this new era of war
and occupation and demand:
’US Hands Off Iran!’
‘Canada/NATO Out of Afghanistan!’
‘US/UK Out of Iraq!’
’Israel Hands Off Palestine!’ 
’Self-Determination for Indigenous Nations in Canada!’
’Self-Determination for All Oppressed Nations!’
