IMPORTANT UPDATE!

Officials with the US Government, and so-called NGO's in Miami in the
US have called May 21st as a Day in Solidarity with Cuba. This
deceptive call claims this day is to remind the world of political
prisoners in Cuba, many of whom are confessed terrorists and agents
paid by the US Interests Section in Havana. Meanwhile the Cuban 5
Heroes: Gerardo, Ramon, Antonio, Fernando and Rene, as well as hundreds
of other political prisoners - either in US prisone or in other secret
prisons around the world- are being held as true political prisoners.
The United States, responsible for over a million deaths in Iraq,
torture in Guantanamo Bay and Abu Gharib - what legitimacy do they have
to claim "solidarity" with any "political prisoners" in Cuba?   

Progressive and Human loving people in the Canada, the US and all
around the world must proclaim May 21st is a day for solidarity with
the Five Cuban Heroes Held in U.S. Jails!

Therefore we ask people in Vancouver, BC, Canada to come out to protest
this deceptive move by the U.S. government and demand: 
"Free the 5 Cuban Heroes NOW!"

Antonio Guerrero's sister. We urge you to read it in
its entirety. Let us commit ourselves ever more to
fight for the Five's immediate freedom.

"Dear friends of solidarity:

Once more we witnessed the risk that our Five
unjustly-imprisoned brothers face in United States
prisons.

My mother and I returned on Apr. 28 from Colorado,
where we were for 21 days. We had plans to visit Tony
in prison nine times, on Fridays, Saturdays and
Sundays, which are the visiting days in Florence U.S.
Penitentiary, where he is imprisoned.

Unfortunately, we were not able to make the planned
visits because on Sun., Apr. 20, at about 12:30 pm,
while we were visiting him, a very grave disturbance
occurred which interrupted our visit and resulted in a
lockdown

WHO ARE THE CUBAN 5IVE?

Between 1994 and 1995, Cuba sent five unarmed men,
Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino,
Fernando González and René González on a mission to
infiltrate and expose Miami-based terrorist groups
such as Alpha 66, Omega 7, Brothers to the Rescue and
the Cuban American National Foundation. These groups
are responsible for hundreds of terrorist attacks
which have taken the lives of thousands of Cubans.

The list of atrocities committed by these groups is
long. It includes the bombing of hotels in Cuba,
assassinations, spreading of diseases, sabotage and
attacks against Cuba's supporters in the U.S. such as
the bombing of the Lincoln Center in 1978 after a
Cuban ballet performance. One of the most horrendous
attacks was the bombing of a Cuban airliner, which
took the lives of 73 people in 1976. The 5ive Cuban
Heroes were valiantly struggling against this terror,
putting themselves and their loved ones in mortal
danger throughout the process.

After gathering evidence to expose the terrorists,
Cuba released all the information that the 5ive had
collected to the FBI. On September 12th, 1998 the FBI
arrested the Cuban 5 and threw them in solitary
confinement for 17 months. It was not until 2001 that
these innocent men were tried and convicted. After a
seven-month show trial (one of the longest in U.S.
history), the Cuban 5ive were sentenced to between 15
years and two life sentences. The U.S. has also denied
Visas to family members of the 5ive, effectively
barring them from visiting their loved ones in prison.

Join us in the battle to free the 5ive Cuban Heroes
held in U.S. jails!

Incidentes graves en prisiones de Florence y Beaumont

Lo siguiente es una carta de Maruchi Guerrero, la
hermana de Antonio Guerrero. Les suplicamos que lean
esta carta en su totalidad, y que doblemos nuestros
esfuerzos en la lucha por la libertad inmediata de los
Cinco Héroes.

"Estimados amigos solidarios:
Una vez mas pudimos darnos cuenta del riesgo que
corren nuestros cinco hermanos, preso injustamente en
las cárceles de los Estados Unidos. Mi mama y yo
regresamos el pasado día 28 de abril de Colorado,
donde estuvimos por 21 días con el propósito de
visitar a Tony en la prisión por nueve veces, los días
viernes, sábado y domingo, que son los días de visita
en la USP Penitenciary de Florence donde él se
encuentra.

Lamentablemente no pudimos hacer todas las visitas
previstas porque el domingo 20 de abril alrededor de
las 12.30 pm mientras nos encontrábamos allí, ocurrió
un hecho de indisciplina muy grave que conllevó a
interrumpir la visita y de ahí el encierro (lock down)
de la prisión

¿Quienes son los Cinco Cubanos?

Entre 1994 y 1995, Cuba envió a cinco hombres sin
armas, Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón
Labañino, Fernando González y René González en una
misión para infiltrar y exponer a grupos terroristas
en Miami como Alpha 66, Omega 7, Hermanos al Rescate,
y la Fundación Nacional Cubano-Americana la vértebra
financiera de todas las organizaciones terroristas
anticubanas. Estos grupos son responsables por cientos
de ataques terroristas que le han robado las vidas a
miles de cubanos.

La lista de atrocidades cometidas por estos grupos es
larga. A incluido el bombardeo de hoteles cubanos,
asesinatos, introducción de plagas, sabotaje y ataques
en contra de los que apoya a Cuba en los EE.UU. tales
como el bombardeo del Lincoln Center en 1978 después
de un ballet cubano. Uno de los ataques más terribles

fue hasta el 2001 que estos hombres inocentes fueron
juzgados y condenados. Después de un proceso
manipulado de siete meses (uno de los más largos de la
historia de los EE.UU.), se les sentencio a los cinco
cubanos a entre 15 años y dos cadenas perpetuas, y en
algunos caso prohibidos acceso a sus familias.

Únete con nosotros en esta batalla para liberar a los
Cinco Héroes Cubanos presos en los EE.UU.
