Invitation to a Rally to Celebrate International Women's Day

We are a group of women's rights activists who have been actively organizing
the International Women's Day (IWD) in Vancouver for the last 15 years. In
2008, the present organizers of IWD have denied us the right to criticize the
reactionary and misogynist governments of the world. The IWD 2008 organizers
are censoring us under the pretext of anti-war and anti-imperialism. We are
against war and imperialism but also against fundamentalist religious
governments and the oppression they impose on millions of women around the
world. It's these reactionary ruling classes that we want to speak out against.

We walked out of the last organizing meeting of the IWD 2008 in protest. The
remaining members of IWD 2008 are all affiliated with MAWO and its subsidiary
groups. MAWO is a group well known for its disruptive behavior and policies
that defend reactionary governments such as the Islamic Republic of Iran.

We invite you to join us in an alternative rally to celebrate March 8th, the
International Women's Day, one without silencing women.
