For the 43rd time since 2005 Mobilization Against War &
Occupation [MAWO] is bringing together peace and social
justice activists at the Canadian Forces Recruitment Centre
to protest the Canada/NATO occupation of Afghanistan.

On Wednesday June 18th 2008 Canadian, US and NATO
troops launched a military operation near Kandahar city,
along with the Afghan military that is under the thumb of
the occupation forces. The Afghan Defence Ministry estimates
that at least 36 so called ‘Taliban’ were killed, and two Afghan
soldiers. This is the latest in the occupation forces brutality
after almost 7 years of war, which has also led to thousands
of Afghan residents fleeing the area. 

This aggression comes as Canada has increased its war drive
in this new era of war and occupation, as just last month on
May 12 the Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper
announced the “Canada First” Defence Strategy that will spend
$30 billion on military over the next 20 years.

As the government of Canada furthers their military and
economic goals at the cost of the lives and dignity of Canadian
poor and working people, it is of urgency that people here in
Canada act against this criminal war drive. On June 19th, please
join peace loving and anti-war activists in demanding:
