For the 44th time since 2005 Mobilization Against War & Occupation
[MAWO] is bringing together peace and social justice activists at the
Canadian Armed Forces Recruitment Centre to protest the Canada/NATO
occupation of Afghanistan.

A brutal NATO attack at the end of June killed at least 45 people in
Helmand province, most of whom were women and children. Saturday July
26th saw the deaths of more than 40 'militants' killed by NATO forces
in Ghazni province. And on Sunday July 27th, 70 'Taliban insurgents'
were killed in NATO airstrikes in Afghanistan's Eastern Khost
province, according to an AFP report. At least 250 civilians (not
including those killed who are so-called 'insurgents') have been
killed by occupation forces since July 4th.

This aggression comes as Canada's Foreign Affairs Minister David
Emerson has just announced that 200 more Canadian troops will be
dispatched to Afghanistan, increasing the force from 2500 to 2700. At
the same time, NATO countries have pledged to send more troops as
well. This expansion of the war drive is certain to increase the air
strikes, bombings, killings and destruction of all aspects of life for
people in Afghanistan. How will all this help the so-called
're-construction' of Afghanistan?

As the government of Canada furthers their military and economic goals
at the cost of the lives and dignity of poor and working people, it is
of urgency that people here in Canada act against this criminal war
drive. On July 28th, please join peace loving and anti-war activists
in demanding:

INDEPENDENT PUBLIC INQUIRY NOW!
