On February 19th 2008, Fidel Castro, announced he had decided not to
accept the nomination to continue on as president of Cuba's State
Council, which is also the position of President of Cuba. With this 
came the unanimous election of Raul Castro to the presidency of the 
Councils of State and Ministers by the deputies to the National 
Assembly, on February 24th 2008. All of this creates a new interest 
in Cuba's political process for both the friends and enemies of Cuba 
alike.

El 19 de Febrero del 2008, Fidel Castro, anuncio su decisión de no 
aceptar la nominación para continuar con su cargo como Presidente 
del Consejo de Estado de Cuba, que también es la posición de 
Presidente de Cuba. Con esto viene también la elección unánime de 
Raúl Castro a la Presidencia del Consejo de Estado y de Ministros 
por los diputados de la Asamblea Nacional, el 24 de Febrero del 
2008. Todo esto ha renovado el interés en el proceso político de 
Cuba tanto entre sus amigos y enemigos.
