DEMAND: "Canada/NATO Out of Afghanistan Now!" &
"Independent Public Inquiry Now!"

In October 2007 Stephen Harper called for the creation
of the “Independent Advisory Panel on Afghanistan”.
Far from being “independent” this panel was headed by
conservative and liberal politicians and CEOs of major
Canadian corporations. Recently the panel came back
with their conclusions, and what are they calling for?
It calls for a continuation of Canada’s plunder and
occupation until at least 2011, with 1000 more NATO
troops and reinforced military helicopters. Where is
the consultation with the people of Canada and the
people of Afghanistan?

The continuation of occupation means that Afghan
people will not only suffer air raids on their
villages and shootings at checkpoints, but also that
Afghan people still must struggle to survive without
the basic necessities of life that the occupation has
destroyed.

As the government of Canada is pushing their motion to
extend their mission through parliament, we as
students, workers, community members, immigrants and
refugees must continue to call for an end to this
criminal occupation immediately and for an
independent public inquiry into Canada’s occupation of
Afghanistan.
