This week marked the 8th Student Week Against War &
Occupation (SWAWO), on 7 university, college and high
school campuses!

This semester SWAWO discussions looked at the current
situation of occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan. The
knowledge of the horrors that war and occupation are
currently causing was clear. In Iraq over 1.2 million
Iraqis have been killed as a result of the occupation,
and today in Afghanistan whole villages continue to be
bombed in air-raids by NATO and Canadian forces. This
led to discussion about the danger of a US attack on
Iran, as the US escalates its propaganda campaign
against Iran, their military buildup in the Persian Gulf,
and with the UN they are tightening sanctions against
Iran. 

This week is culminating in the February 17th antiwar
rally, bringing all campuses together for a city-wide
action. Along with students, workers, youth, elders,
community members, immigrants and refugees will join
on the streets to demand:

“No War on Iran!”
”No to Sanctions on Iran!”
”US/UK Out of Iraq!”
”Canada/NATO Out of Afghanistan!”
”Self-Determination for Indigenous Nations in Canada!”
”Self-Determination for All Oppressed Nations!”
