This week MAWO joins with campus antiwar groups across the lower
mainland and Vancouver Island, to organize a coordinated effort of antiwar
forums, film-showings, and to outreach at universities, colleges, and high
schools. MAWO was formed out of the first Student Week Against War &
Occupation, and is now continuing to organize with the 8th SWAWO. The last
SWAWO, in October 2007 attracted hundreds of students in more than 7
college and university campuses as well as high schools. MAWO has
continuously organized on campuses for four years, making SWAWO an
institution to oppose war and occupation.

As students face skyrocketing tuition fees and a barrage of military recruiters,
the reality of Canada’s war abroad has impacted students to get involved in
organizing against this new era of war and occupation!

This week will culminate in the February 17th antiwar rally, bringing all
campuses together for a city-wide action. Along with students, workers, youth,
elders, community members, immigrants and refugees will join on the streets
to demand NO to war and occupation!
