Cpl. Nathan Hornburg is the 71st Canadian soldier to lose their life in Afghanistan. He was killed in combat while
taking part in "Operation Sadiq Sarbaaz," which translates into 'Operation Honest Soldier.' The Canadian/NATO war and occupation of Afghanistan has been anything but honest or humane. Behind the claims of reconstruction,
establishing security and instilling democracy, the realities on the ground in Afghanistan expose a far more brutal truth. It has been reported that anywhere between tens and hundreds of thousands of Afghan civilians have lost their lives. Afghanistan has the highest rate of displaced citizens (even more than Palestine after over five
decades of Israeli occupation), a consistently dropping life expectancy rate, malnutrition, starvation and almost 80% of the population facing unemployment. The suicide rate of women in Afghanistan has exploded – as the percentage of women setting themselves on fire has risen 600%!

But the Afghan people continue to struggle against the destructive foreign occupation and for their self-determination, and so in solidarity with the people of Afghanistan, we carry the struggle on within imperialist Canada!
