The Canadian/NATO war drive continues to degenerate as the
Afghan civilian casualty rate soars and the number of
Canadian deaths rises to 71. At home in Canada, attacks on
poor and working people struggling for their basic rights
and freedoms increase and political activists are targeted.
Join MAWO as we continue to consistently respond to these
attacks within the growing era of war and occupation abroad
and at home, with direct actions demanding:
“Canada/NATO Out Of Afghanistan Now!”
”Independent Public Inquiry Now!”
((( 2 ))) MAWO Education Class

FOCUS: “The Case of Alison Bodine and it's Importance
in Building the Antiwar Movement.”
Session 4
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~
>>> WEDNESDAY October 3rd, 2007
6:30PM
Large North Hall of Joe's Cafe
(on Commercial Drive at Williams St)
Come and participate in the MAWO education classes to
discuss in depth issues facing the antiwar movement today.
Alison Bodine, Executive Member and a spokesperson of
Mobilization Against War and Occupation, was recently
targeted as an antiwar activist and arrested by Canada
Border Services Agency, after her antiwar materials were
searched and held at the border. After two weeks of defence
actions and 1,200 petition signatures demanding “Drop All
Charges Against Alison Bodine,” last Fridays initial hearing
was a victory of gaining full disclosure and access to any
existing initial notes written by the border guards that
questioned Alison. Ali Yerevani, the political editor of Fire
This Time Newspaper and an organizer with MAWO, will give
analysis into Alison’s case as one example of social justice
and antiwar activists coming under attack, and how the antiwar
movement must respond!

High schools, colleges and universities are in full swing
and MAWO is organizing with antiwar groups on campuses across
the lower mainland to bring a week of workshops, forums, film
showings and more. As students struggle against increasing
tuition fees, military recruiters and increased public funds

has become a catalyst for students to get involved in organizing
against it!
