DEMAND: "Canada/NATO Out of Afghanistan Now!" &
"Independent Public Inquiry Now!"

As winter sets in, the occupying forces claim that
the “fighting season” in NATO/Canada occupied
Afghanistan is ending. In the last 24 hours alone,
Canada and NATO forces have killed 34 Afghans in air
strikes, adding to the 14 Afghan road construction
workers killed in an overnight bombing while asleep
in their tents. The Associated Press estimates 6,100
Afghans have been killed by the occupation so far
this year alone, making it the deadliest year in the
6 years of occupation. The occupiers have made it
clear that no matter what season it is, they will
continue all out attacks on Afghan people. Under such
destruction and killing, Afghan people have continued
their resistance and will not stop their fight back
either until the foreign occupiers leave their
country.

While Afghan people continue resistance against the
occupation of their country, they also continue their
daily struggle to survive under war zone conditions.
This means day-to-day life is a struggle with
destroyed infrastructure like medical centers, water
sources and a failing electrical supply. This
contributes to the lowering of life expectancy by 4.5
years, the 40 per cent of children under five years
of age who are underweight, and that every 28 seconds
a women dies of pregnancy related causes. Against
these conditions Afghan people continue to fight for
an end to the occupation of their country and for
self determination, and we in Vancouver must continue
to echo their demands! Join the MAWO picket action to
protest this criminal and unjust war and occupation!
