VANCOUVERITES RALLY TO DEMAND:
US HANDS OFF IRAN!
CANADA/NATO OUT OF AFGHANISTAN NOW!
US/UK OUT OF IRAQ!

On November 23, NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop
Scheffer insited that the lives of people in
Afghanistan are “improving”, following a visit to the
Canadian Forces base Camp Nathan Smith in Kandahar.
The statement came after a recent report released by
the think-tank the Senlis Council showed that the
Canada/NATO occupation of Afghanistan is in crisis and
has completely failed to improve the lives of Afghan
people. 

Vancouverites will protest the ongoing Canada/NATO
occupation of Afghanistan today. “There is only one
solution to the crisis of the occupation in
Afghanistan, and only one way to improve the lives of
Afghan people: troops out now,” Said Janine Solanki,
the Co-chair and spokesperson of Mobilization Against
War & Occupation (MAWO).‎ “This is what MAWO has
demanded for four years, and this is what we are
rallying for today, tomorrow and until war and
occupation is ended.”

The rally will also protest illegal and criminal US/UK
occupation of Iraq, as well as the acceleration of
negative propaganda towards Iran. President George
Bush and the neo-cons in the US government are
banging louder and louder the drums of war against the
people of Iran.
The recent tightening of sanctions against Iran, the
announcement of
one of Iran’s state armies as a terrorist
organization, the allocation of more and more money
for destabilization from within the country - all
establishes the vicious and criminal war drive against
the people of Iran. “An attack on Iran would have a
devastating impact on the lives of people in Iran as
well as in Middle East and internationally. We are
demanding an end to the threats of war against Iran,
and respect for Iran’s self-determination and
sovereignty,” said Janine Solanki. 
 
Today’s rally is part of MAWO’s ongoing monthly
rallies against the occupations of Iraq and
Afghanistan and any attack on Iran.
